Weekend Writing Warriors #129!

Hi, gang! Before I say anything else, I just wanted to let you know I made a little boo-boo last week. Some of you may have noticed that me and my bestie, Maggie Wells, end up on the WWW list side-by-side every week. That's because I always sign us both up myself...until last week, when I had the world's biggest mental block and forgot to add her to the list. And she had a pretty post all prepared and everything. So, to help relieve me of my guilt, be sure and visit her today, eh? lol. All right, now, time for more Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“I’m better at the actual dating itself.”
            “Are you?”
He nodded. “Much better.” His lips closed around the rim of his mug, and hers tingled in jealousy. The man had an exceeding amount of confidence that would come across as arrogant on anyone else. On him it was just plain hot.
“So if this were a date, if we were on a date right now, how would you, uh...seal the deal?”
Garrett returned his mug to the table and dabbed his lips with a napkin. “If this were a date,” he began in a smooth, deliciously confident tone, “I’d tell you how sexy you look in that dress, that you have the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen, and your smile, your laugh, your hair...that body...everything about you is perfect.

Whew. Is it getting hot in here or what? ;) Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Well, my friends, I'm gonna keep it short and sweet since I yapped your ears off already. I'm officially moving in six days! Eep! Pray for my sanity, peeps. Wishing you all a marvelous week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #128!

Hello, all you lovely people! Hope you're doing well! I'm glad many of you are warming up to Garrett (aka: Mystery Man). Veronica Scott, I still think he'll grow you. ;) Ready for more Adventures in Online Dating? Read on!

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“And why would I do a thing like that?” A slow smile followed his words.
The damn butterflies were back and more persistent than ever. “Tell me about yourself,” she said, desperate to shift the attention from her before she came undone. “What do you do, besides offer bad dating advice?”
“I’m in marketing and advertising.” That explained the suit. “The dating advice is just something I do in my spare time.”
            “Well...you suck at it.”
He chuckled as he reached for his mug.

Well, in roughly two weeks I'm picking up and moving...across the street. It's not far to go, I know, but moving is always such a pain. So much packing. So much lifting. So much sweating. One of these days I hope to settle in a place that I can call home for longer than a year or two. Or maybe I'll meet a really sexy man who already has a home of his own, and we'll magically fall in love, and he'll, like, totally ask me to move in with him. And I'll act all nonchalant at first, but meanwhile I'll be secretly packing my bags, and then I'll just show up on his doorstep and he'll carry me and all my belongings over the threshold. Ahhh. A girl can dream, can't she? Wishing you all a fairytale-like week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #127!

Hello, my dears! Happy Sunday! Today I'm sharing another excerpt from Adventures in Online Dating! :)

“Guess I’ve been going to the wrong coffee shop,” he told her plainly.
            “Guess so.”
He took a drink from his own mug, those dark, penetrating eyes fixed on her. “I think you’re going about this online dating thing all wrong.”
            “Is that so?”
“For starters, you shouldn’t dress so well on the first date.”
She glanced down at the summer dress she wore and the cute, strappy heels. “No?”
“Don’t flirt, don’t smile, and whatever you do, don’t look at him with those eyes of yours.”
Those very eyes lifted to his in a hurry, sparkling with awareness. “Why, Garrett, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you were trying to sabotage me.”

I've had the most amazing week. The family reunion was awesome as expected, I got to spend some quality time with my parents, including a movie marathon on Wednesday, and I showered my adorable baby nephew with hugs and kisses galore! I'm headed back to Ottawa on Monday. I've got tons to do in the next few weeks because I'm moving at the end of this month! More on that later. In the meantime, wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #126!

Greetings and salutations, fellow readers, writers, and friends! Happy Sunday! I'll be sharing another excerpt from Adventures in Online Dating today, so, without further ado, read on!

A smile deepened the lines bracketing his mouth. “Beautiful name for a beautiful woman.”
She dove for her mug so she could hide the giddy-swoony-girly grin that was threatening to split her face behind the ceramic. When she schooled her features to a less freakish level, she murmured a polite, “Thank you.”
“So where’d you pick him up, that Joe fella?”
Sydney sighed. “Online dating--he was my first, and most likely my last. I’m not so sure it’s for me.”
“And the world of online daters collectively mourns the loss of their greatest acquisition.”
“Where were you before I registered for the site and paid more than my month’s supply of coffee?”

Well, today I'm off to my first family reunion of the summer. So excited to spend some quality time with my family, enjoy fabulous food, and revel in the festivities. But really, the main reason for my excitement is the fact that I get to squeeze my baby nephew! :D I'll be sure to give him an extra kiss or two (hundred) for all of you! Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead! :)
