Weekend Writing Warriors #47!

Seasons' Greetings, one and all! Hope you're doing well! We're back again for another exciting day of reading, and I'm ready to share more from my Nutcases.

Here's the premise: It's the year 2033. Since so many people have developed allergies to peanuts in this century, the government has banned peanuts and all peanut-related products, including (*gasp*) peanut butter. Side note: I think that was the most anyone has ever used the word 'peanut' in a sentence. Well, as you can imagine, Morgan, my heroine, refuses to live in a world without PB. So, with the help of my hero, Clark, they build their own peanut-butter-making machine in the secret basement of her home and begin the business of bootlegging. Also, they share a few pb kisses, etc, etc. :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Okay, his laugh. Over the phone it was delish, but in person it was orgasmic. “I’d love to see your basement,” he said, grinning like a teenager about to cop a feel.

“Follow me.”

He trailed behind her on the abbreviated tour, making comments here and there about the décor. She’d told him she was an interior designer which he seemed keenly interested in. New homes nowadays came fully furnished to eliminate stress on home-buyers. Interior designers, such as herself, had hundreds of themes and color schemes to choose from, but the competition was fierce. In order to stay at the top of the heap, she had to constantly reinvent herself and her artistic viewpoint.

That's all, folks! Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Despite the crazy weather (including ice storms and more than our fair share of snow), we had a wonderful country Christmas. Santa was very good to me this year. I got a magic set, my very own jumbo container of cashews (so I don't have to steal from my Dad), a bright red crock pot (so I can pretend I can cook), a crock pot cook book (so I can look more like an official cooker person), Amazon gift cards (so I can buy more dirty books and karaoke CDs), and moneh, moneh, moneh! Wishing you all a fabulous New Year! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #46!

Happy holidays, my friends! In honour of the fast-approaching festivities, I'm giving the gift of peanut butter to you once again. I'm generous that way.

Here's the premise for Nutcases: It's the year 2033.

“I just wish I’d found you sooner, when The Final Crunch Down first happened.”

He blinked hard and drew away from her again, like it was taking every ounce of his control not to be near her. “It was over two years ago, but, golly. It feels like yesterday to me. I still have nightmares about it.”

“God, yes.” She loved him for being here and for understanding her and for wearing dark-wash jeans that fit him like a glove. "Clark, I know you just got here, and we hardly know each other, but…would you like to see my basement?”

That's all, folks! Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors

I made it home for the holidays yesterday, driving through snow and rain and sleet and slush to get here, but I feel so happy and relaxed now that I'm in my favourite place on earth. I'm surrounded by snow, family, and beautiful Christmas decorations. This time of year is so magical for me. Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year too! Be safe if you're travelling. Take a moment to enjoy the little things--the sound of laughter, hot chocolate and marshmallows, bows, and mistletoe. Love to you all! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #45!

Season's Greetings, my friends! Welcome back to another wordy weekend filled with excerpts galore! I'm sharing some more nuttiness today from my Nutcases.

And here's the excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

The smirk on his face made her weak in the knees. “I was so happy when you contacted me. I was beginnin’ to fear the whole world had forgotten….”

“I could never forget my greatest source of pleasure.” She released an audible sigh as he let go of her hand, but the sigh turned into a gasp when he cupped her cheek instead.

“I thought I was the only one left who cared,” he whispered.

She shook her head, surprised to find her heart still beating. “I care too much,” she confessed with a trembling smile.

This week is gonna be a busy one for me. I've got a staff Christmas party, a special dinner, a Christmas ball, and the first of several family Christmas celebrations to attend, not to mention my other everyday obligations. However, I'm feeling rather joyous about it all. 'Tis the season to be jolly, as they say (fa-la-la-la-la and so on). And once Friday hits, I'm heading home for the holidays! Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #44!

Hiya, folks! Welcome back and happy Sunday to you! Hope all is well in your world. :) I'm sharing a little more from Nutcases today, just in case you haven't had your daily dose of peanut butter. I'm here for you.

Also, they share a few pb kisses, etc, etc. :-D

And here's the excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Too busy taking in every flawless detail of his face, she almost missed when he reached for her hand. “Oh.”

His hot palm pressed against hers as they officially became acquainted. “It’s so nice to finally meet you face to face, Morgan.”

God, he had to stop talking. He had to stop saying her name and touching any part of her and being within five feet of her before she melted into oblivion. “Yeah. Same...uh, me too. You, I mean.”

Well, we're nearing my most favourite day of the year, and I've barely even scratched the surface on my Christmas shopping. I did, however, buy myself a little somethin' somethin', as per tradition. I'm ridiculously easy to shop for. I like that about myself. Toys, games, sporting equipment...you really can't go wrong, particularly if you start in the childrens' section. :D Can't wait to be home with my family. I'm counting down the days. Hope you all have a fabulous week!

Weekend Writing Warriors #43!

Good Sunday morning to you, my friends! Hope you're all well! I guess it's a good thing I'm so addicted to peanuts because that means you get another excerpt from Nutcases today!

And here's the excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

In his profile picture he had much shorter hair. And a beard. The man who stood before her was a clean-shaven, floppy-haired heartthrob who looked too young to be a professor and too attractive to be single.

Somehow during their second conversation she’d managed to pry that he was, in fact, single. Thank you, Jesus. “How old are you?” she blurted.

His resulting smile kept her from kicking herself. “I’m thirty-three, and you’re not the first person who’s asked.”

My friend Mags was being quite smart-assy last night, which inspired me to create a new word. I give you all permission to use it whenever the mood strikes. Ready for it? Here it is...SMASSY. It's like taking sassy to the next level, with a little extra snark thrown in for good measure. Thank you. I'm here all week. *bows* Have a fabulous day! :)
