Weekend Writing Warriors #29!

Helloooo, friends! Hope you're all doing well! I'm watching Nanny McPhee as I type this. Is there anything Emma Thompson can't do? I adore the woman. It doesn't hurt that the delightful Colin Firth stars in the movie too. And Angela freaking Lansbury. Basically, it rocks my toe socks. Now that we've settled that, I'll be sharing another excerpt from my newly acquired story called Crossing the Line. :D

Here's the blurb:

Madison Kelly is an erotic romance author from Canada on her way to her first ever writing conference. Across the border. A trunk full of dirty books and dildos proves enough to amp up her nerves and make her lips flap faster than the maple leaf flag.
But she's not going anywhere until George Petropoulos gives the go-ahead.
The Greek god of a border guard has something other than national security in mind when he detains this particular citizen. He can’t help but be charmed by the juxtaposition between her stammering blushes and the racy books she writes.
A hot and heavy interrogation brings out her inner sex goddess, one that she’s been hiding in the pages of her books, and leaves them both wanting more. But will they be brave enough to cross the line again?

And here's the excerpt:

“Are you bringing anything into the country with you?”
Her heart hammered. She’d rehearsed her answer to this particular question at least a dozen times, but without the gorgeous man staring down at her, daring her to give him a reason to detain her. Then again, honesty wasn’t always the best way to go. Especially in her case.
She looked him square in the eyes and said, “Just my suitcase…and stuff.”
“Pop the trunk.”
Shit

Weekend Writing Warriors #28!

Good morning, everyone! Happy Sunday! Is there anything more awesome in an author's life than getting THAT email? The one saying, 'We love the story line, we love the characters. We. Want. This.'? Well, I'm thrilled to report that I received one of those emails this week. :D The story is called Crossing the Line and it's based on a true story. Sadly, the steamy stuff is embellished. A lot. But a girl can dream.

Here's the blurb:

And here's an excerpt!

“Citizenship?” he asked.
She cocked her head to the side and studied him. Smooth, straight nose with a slight bump on the bridge. Eyelashes that made her ache with envy. Wavy jet-black hair that begged a girl to get all tangled up in. “Hmmm, I would guess either Greek or Spanish.”
“I meant you.”
Madison frowned.

GAME DAY! Episode One

Helloooooooo! Happy Wednesday, my friends! You see, I tried this little experiment a long time ago when I had my own online journal. I had a conversation with myself and it went something like this:

Me: "Wednesdays are my favourite day of the week. I just love them."
Me Too: "I do too! You know what else I love?"
Me: "Obviously, because I'm you."
Me Too: "Will you just play along?"
Me: "Sorry. What else do you love?"
Me Too: "Games!"
Me: *tries to act surprised*
Me Too: "OMG! You know what we should do?"
Me: *rolls eyes* "What?"
Me Too: "We should combine the two things we love into one awesome thing! I call it...WEDNESDAY GAME DAY!"
Me: "Genius. That's what you are."

And then I made out with myself. Or something. So there you have it, folks. Every Wednesday I'm going to post a fun game for you to play. Most likely a crazy idea off the top of my head, like today's kicker offer. I call it: DECODING THE SONG! Here's how it works. I'm going to post lyrics to a song that have been altered using synonyms of the actual lyrics. Your task is to name the song, decode the lyrics, word for word, and post your answers in a comment. No Googling allowed! Ready? Let's GO!

I am able to present you the globe,
Glowing, twinkling, delightful.
Reveal, young royal, now when last did you allow your beating organ to choose?

Too easy for you? Here, try another!

I felt a sensation on the warmest season of the year when you were away.
I smashed my vehicle into an architectural structure; I looked on, I allowed it to conflagrate.
I tossed your crap into a sack and shoved it down the steps.
I rammed my automobile into an overpass.
I am indifferent.

Okay, let's see what you got! :) Oh, and to make things more interesting, the winner(s) will receive points every week. The points do matter. At the end of GAME DAY season I'll add up the points and the ultimate winner will receive a fabulous prize! :D

Weekend Writing Warriors #27!

Good morning, my dears! Happy Sunday! You know what? So far, I'm really not all that impressed with August. There. I said it. We're only a third of the way in, though, so there is still lots of time for improvement. Sometimes things happen that remind you how precious every single day is. Instead of sitting back and waiting for life to go my way, I plan on being a much more proactive participant. That goes for my writing too.

I'm going to share one last excerpt from my debut, Blind Faith, and next week I'll have something brand new for you! :)

Here's the blurb:

Faith Lawson is just your average, wholesome librarian with a dirty mind…until a chance encounter with a handsome stranger brings her fantasies to life in a frantic night of passion. But when he walks out her door, he leaves a piece of his past behind that changes everything.

And the excerpt!

He climbed to his feet and stripped bare in front of her, not a bashful bone in his body. Bone. Her eyes landed on his jutting erection. She gazed in wonderment until he kissed her senseless, his warm, hard body settling on hers. And in hers.

Her panties stretched taut, the straining elastic biting into her thighs. The friction of the slick satin sliding against their flesh ratcheted the pleasure into uncharted territories. Adrian drove into her faster, gaining strength from every satisfied hum that escaped from her throat.

I'd love to connect with more of you in other social places, such as facebook and twitter. Friend/follow me and I'll gladly do the same. :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #26!

Hello, friends! Happy Sunday and Happy August! Seriously? It's August already? Well, for once I'm not at all bummed about that because there are so many exciting things on the agenda for me this month, including meeting distant relatives for the first time, soccer playoffs, a family reunion, seeing the Cole Porter-inspired musical 'Anything Goes', and spending time with my best girlfriends.

Oh, and there's always a little reading and writing thrown into the mix too. Today's excerpt is a continuation of last week's, only I've skipped ahead a few lines.

Here's the blurb for Blind Faith:

Faith Lawson is just your average, wholesome librarian with a dirty mind…until a chance encounter with a handsome stranger brings her fantasies to life in a frantic night of passion. But when he walks out her door, he leaves a piece of his past behind that changes everything.

And here's the excerpt!

He ignored her blatant request, a wicked grin on his face. His eyes traveled around the room, appearing to take in every detail. “Where are all your books?”

Her cheeks flamed with embarrassment.

“Ah, I see,” he said, smiling. “You read dirty books, don’t you?” She shook her head in a vain attempt to save face. “Where do you hide them?”
