Author Interview starring Maggie Wells!

Greetings, friends, fans, and fellow authors! My bestie, Maggie Wells, is back on my blog to talk to us about a special project she’s been working on for the past year. She, along with three other talented authors, put together a collection of stories called Love Letters, featuring six smokin’ hot volumes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first volume (pictured above) and I feel very fortunate that we managed to steal Maggie for an interview before she becomes one of those hugely famous authors who force their publicists to do interviews for them. ;) Lucky for all of us, we’ve got the real deal here. So, without further ado, here’s Maggie!

Ha! Like I could ever escape your clutches, Evelyn. Hi all! I’m so happy to be back here on my bestie’s blog!

Could you tell us a bit about the process involved in creating the Love Letters collection?

In January 2012, Ginny Glass tweeted that she was looking to work with some erotic romance authors on a project she’d been cooking up in her head. I was one of many who replied. She wanted to write a sexy short story for each letter of the alphabet. How could I resist? We all sent a pitch for a letter and a writing sample, and Ginny chose the ones she thought fit the spirit of the project best. That’s how she ended up saddled with me, Emily Cale and Christina Thacher, and the rest is history!

How are each of the volumes unique?

It turns out that by pure coincidence, each of the stories we submitted for consideration had at least a hint of BDSM involved. We got to talking about the project and decided to assign a different theme to each volume. Here’s the scoop on the entire series:
Volume 1: Obeying Desire (A-D)(Theme: BDSM)– April 2013
Volume 2: Duty to Please (E-H) (Theme: Military)–May 2013
Volume 3: Wicked Whispers (I-L) (Theme: Dirty Talk)–June 2013
Volume 4: Travel to Temptation (M-Q)(Theme: Exotic Erotic)– August 2013
Volume 5: Exposed (R-U) (Theme: Voyeurism/Exhibitionism)–September 2013
Volume 6: Cowboy’s Command (V-Z) (Theme: Western)–October 2013

Which theme did you find the most challenging to write?

I have to say the BDSM theme in the first volume was my biggest challenge. I had a little handcuff play in my story because the hero is a cop, but it wasn’t nearly up to the standards set by the other stories. Once we got to the edit rounds it became clear that I was going to have to ramp it up. Let’s just say it was a learning experience for me as well as for my hero and heroine.

I heard a rumour that you co-wrote one of the stories with fellow author, Emily Cale. What was that experience like?

Ha! Emily and I had a blast. Our shared story is X is for XXX Ranch and will appear in Volume 6: Cowboy’s Command. It’s about a woman who inherited a bit of property that wasn’t exactly the type of ‘working ranch’ she envisioned. I had a great time getting to know these three women over the course of the past year. In co-writing this story, Emily and I discovered our mutual affection for whorehouses, bendy straws and roosters.

Last but not least, tell us about the sexiest thing you’ve done this year. :D

Me? I’m sexy every damn day. No one rocks a pair of sheep pajamas the way I do. Just ask my man. I’m never alone in the bubble bath because I always take the hero in whatever book I’m reading with me. Sometimes I let my hubby hand-feed me Cheez-Its while I’m writing a particularly frisky scene. You want sexy? You should see my laundry folding skills. Totally hot.

*giggles* Do you see why I love this girl so much? Thanks for being here, Maggie! I wish you all the best of luck with your series! So, you interested in knowing where you can buy these babies? Check out Carina Press!
